The
students have participated in the major festivals in North America and
have won prizes in music competitions. The students range from age 8 to
44 and come from different cultural backgrounds.In addition to regular
classes students attend special work shops conducted by leading dancers
and Gurus from India.
The
Naadham School of Music and Dance was founded by Vasu
Govindarajan, in 1988, in
Montreal and has been training young Canadians who are interested
and dedicated in understanding and continuing this great tradition of
music and dance.
Classes
are offered for beginners and for advanced students with individual
attention being given to each student.Over the years Vasu and Uma has
been promoting appreciation for South Asian Music in Quebec and Canada
and pursuing their artistic mission thro teaching, performing and
composing music.For the past 17 years in Montreal the school has
many areas of involvement for students and audience including
concerts, classes , lecture demonstrations in schools and universities.
The
Naadham orchestra comprises of members from India and Canada for all
the Arangetrams and shows. Many students have had their Arangetrams
(Graduation performances) and still continue and perform with “La Troupe the
Danse UmaVasudevan”.The Gurus Vasu and
Uma are perfectionists who strive to bring out the best in all their
students.
